Source: General Information
Ultimate Guitar Repair. The information source for all of your guitar repair needs.
Guitar Repair is often an expensive option for the average guitar player. Our goal here is provide you with enough information to arm you with the knowledge to complete many repairs on your own.
Guitar Repair can be an intimidating option if you have never dabbled or tinkered with your own guitar. If your guitar plays hard, or you you have a friend that is getting discouraged by the performance of their guitar, there often is a hesitant decision to bring the guitar to the local repair shop.
Why? Mostly because of cost, because even a very simple repair can easily cost several hundred dollars. And the more intensive repairs? We won’t even talk about it.
Another thing you want to be armed with is the truth. Some repair shops will try to tell you there is a lot more that is wrong with your guitar than there really is. Thank goodness there aren’t too many of those aroung, because they get a bad rep.
If you are armed with the information from this site you will be able to verify estimates from a repair shop and you will also be able to accurately evaluate there assessment of the problem and the proposed repair.
Some of the more basic Guitar Repair tasks can be completed by anyone with basic tools and hand coordination skills. Things such as changing strings, adjusting your saddle or nut or even replacing frets can be a task that you could handle, given the proper information. We will get you going on all of these things and a lot more.
Here are just some of the things will be covering in this blog.
Don’t be shy and we want to assure you that NO question is a stupid question. We will take questions very serious here and the last thing we want is to send you off into the unknown.

It is possible to reset your own neck. I have written quite a few articles on that subject. Here are the links to those articles:

I believe these articles will answer all of your questions. Just take your time and assemble the correct tools and materials and you can do this yourself. It sounds as if your neck is quite loose already, so the removal of it could be quite easy. The hardest part then is re-alignment and prep before the actual gluing process.
Good luck.
